Council May Act Tonight on Land for Center

Share

An agreement to use six acres of school district land at Laguna Hills High School for part of the city’s Community Center project could be approved by the City Council tonight.

Instead of cash for the land, the Saddleback Valley Unified School District would receive other benefits, such as a second access road to the high school.

Plans for the $20-million center, at Alicia Parkway and Paseo de Valencia, include several ball fields, a multiuse gymnasium, meeting rooms and a library.

No cash will change hands because the property lacks access to Alicia Parkway, giving it only nominal value, city officials said.

The 7 p.m. meeting will take place at City Hall, 25201 Paseo de Alicia, Suite 150. Information: (714) 707-2600.
