Militants Blamed as 11 Slain in 2 Attacks

Suspected Muslim militants stormed two police stations in southern Egypt, killing 10 police officers and a civilian, the Interior Ministry said. Militants attacked stations in Mallawi and the nearby town of Abu Qurqas, both along the Nile River in El Minya province. Police officials said three officers were killed in Mallawi, about 170 miles south of Cairo. Another seven officers and a civilian were killed in Abu Qurqas, about 150 miles south of the capital, the officials said. The gunmen fled after the attacks. No group immediately claimed responsibility.
