From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Colorado held its first execution in 30 years, putting to death a man who, with the help of his wife, abducted a woman, then raped and killed her. Gary Lee Davis, 53, and his wife, Rebecca, kidnapped Virginia May, 33, in July 1986, stripped her and led her around by a rope before Davis shot her 14 times. Rebecca Davis was convicted and sentenced to life in prison.
