Smith Micro Software Inc.: The Aliso Viejo provider of communication software for personal computers reported third quarter net income of $35,000, or less than 1 cent per share, down from the $390,000, or 3 cents a share, for the corresponding quarter last year. Revenue declined 16% to $3.2 million from $3.8 million. The company said it lost $1.6 million, or 11 cents a share, for the nine months, compared with a net loss of $2.1 million, or 15 cents a share, for the same period in 1996. Revenue fell 51% to $8.4 million from $17.1 million.
