Make-Overs Offered to Women Using Shelters

More than 250 women from 26 nonprofit organizations will benefit today from the annual Day of Self-Esteem.

The event is sponsored by Working Wardrobes for a New Start, a program that serves women from 20 Orange County shelters.

Each year, the organization offers career counseling and personal make-overs. The women receive complimentary hair, makeup and nail services and attend a career fair.

Women are invited from Orange County shelters and programs, and they participate on a voluntary basis at an undisclosed location to ensure confidentiality.

Leftover clothing will be available during a public sale Sunday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Our Lady Queen of Angels parish center in Newport Beach.
