Centinela District to Repay State $1 Million

The Centinela Valley Union High School District must reimburse the state $1 million because the district did not accurately keep track of how many students were attending classes in previous years.

Auditors determined that during the 1995-96 school year, the state overpaid the school district $245,419. Instead of spending more time auditing attendance records for 1993-94 and 1994-95, Centinela Valley has agreed to pay $1 million, said Phil Urabe, a business consultant to the school district.
