Land Mines

Share

Nobel Prize winners notwithstanding, permit one WWII infantry platoon leader who placed antitank mines in the way of German panzers to give Bill Clinton a rare compliment for refusing the hypocrisy of any international treaty “banning land mines.” Certainly, clean them up when war is over--granted an expensive and difficult task. But deny front-line soldiers any critical defense tools when needed--never!

How about also outlawing machine guns and artillery as historically proposed by past “tree huggers” who never did and never will face enemy fire. And, throw in the unilateral disarmers, ban the bombers and “better Red than dead” reality-deprived. How fortunate to enjoy peacetime fantasy!
