Sync Research Inc.: The Irvine networking products company lost $4.6 million, or 27 cents a share, for the third quarter, compared to a net loss of $3.5 million, or 23 cents a share, for the third quarter of 1996. Revenue declined 39% to $5.7 million from $9.3 million. The net loss for the nine months was $13.7 million, or 80 cents a share, which included charges of $1.2 million for cost-cutting in the first and third quarters. A year earlier, the company lost $7.6 million, or 52 cents a share. Revenue fell 34% to $17 million from $25.9 million.
