College Dean to Review NEA Grants
Daniel Rivas, dean of humanities and languages at Irvine Valley College, has been selected to review grant proposals for the National Endowment for the Arts.
The panel convened in Washington, D.C., in early October to evaluate proposals for humanities-related grants.
Panels usually are composed of five professors and administrators from colleges and universities nationwide.
Recommendations are forwarded to the National Humanities Council, which is appointed by the president and composed of residents from all walks of life. The council forwards its recommendations to the NEA chairman for a final decision.
Rivas, who lives in Laguna Niguel, became dean of the college’s liberal arts division in 1985.
