From Times Wire Reports

Only 1% of Americans ages 2 to 19 eat healthy diets, a study found. On average, people in that age group receive 40% of their energy from fat and added sugar, the study published in this month’s issue of Pediatrics said. The U.S. Department of Agriculture recommends eating six to 11 servings of grain each day, three to five servings of vegetables, two to four of fruit, two to three of dairy products and five to seven ounces of meat. Sixteen percent of 3,307 people surveyed did not meet any federal nutrition guidelines while 30% met the recommendations for fruit, grain, meat and dairy.
