Holcombe Fills Post at UCI Cancer Center
Dr. Randall Holcombe has been named associate director of clinical research at the UC Irvine Cancer Center, officials recently announced.
Holcombe, who also was given the position of chief of UCI College of Medicine’s department of hematology/oncology, conducts research in areas including colon cancer and other gastrointestinal malignancies, melanoma and cancer prevention.
He has been a leading investigator in the National Cancer Institute-sponsored Southwest Oncology Group and directs a basic research laboratory investigating the role of the immune system in fighting cancer.
“Dr. Holcombe brings an enthusiasm that will both enhance and complement the activities of many basic and clinical scientists here at UCI Medical Center and on the UCI campus,” said Frank L. Meyskens Jr., director of the cancer center.
