Viewer’s Guide
The ceremony for Princess Diana on Saturday will begin at about 1 a.m. PDT with a coffin procession through the streets to Westminster Abbey. Once there, the coffin will be placed near the altar. The service is expected to take about an hour. The body will then be taken 80 miles to the Spencer family home in Great Brington, Northampton.

Westminster Abbey--The “Viewer’s Guide” that appeared in Friday’s Times failed to make clear that a church existed at the site hundreds of years before construction work between the 13th and 16th centuries created the present Westminster Abbey. In some editions, this graphic also misstated where the late Princess Diana was married to Prince Charles. That ceremony occurred at St. Paul’s Cathedral.
The site of the services, built between the 13th and 16th centuries, is considered an architectural masterpiece. It has been the setting for every coronation since 1066 and for numerous other royal occasions.
