CONFERENCE
Nearly 17,000 women are expected to pack the Pond of Anaheim next weekend for a Women of Faith Joyful Journey conference, one of more than a dozen such gatherings in U.S. cities this year. More than 150,000 have registered for the 1997 evangelical Christian rallies, which observers have likened to the all-male Promise Keepers’ outdoor events.
Featured are authors and motivational speakers popular in evangelical circles, including Kay Arthur, Patsy Clairemont, Barbara Johnson, Luci Swindoll and Sheila Walsh. The conference, sold out weeks ago, will begin at 7:30 p.m. Friday and end at 6 p.m. next Saturday.
