Woods Rushed Into Mix
Another player is in the mix at tailback this week--fullback LaVale Woods, who hasn’t had a carry in the first two games.
Woods was USC’s leading rusher last season with 601 yards, largely because he filled in at tailback while Shawn Walters and Delon Washington served suspensions.
With an open date Saturday and the emphasis on improving USC’s almost nonexistent running game, Coach John Robinson is giving Woods an opportunity to compete for carries with Washington and Malaefou MacKenzie.

Sophomore Eric Denmon, a backup center, is expected to miss the rest of the season after additional cartilage damage was discovered in his knee during an arthroscopic procedure.
