Company to Increase Size of Its Plant

Special Devices Inc. has received permission to increase the size of a building at its headquarters, under construction on New Los Angeles Road.
The Moorpark City Council voted this week to allow the company to add 35,000 square feet to its plant in eastern Moorpark. The company, which manufactures and designs explosive devices to detonate auto air bags and missiles, began construction in February after choosing Moorpark over other cities such as Mesa, Ariz.
The plant is expected to create 600 new jobs when it opens in 1998.
