Flu-Plagued Ship Docks; 96 Affected
A cruise ship hit by an outbreak of the flu on its journey from Montreal docked in New York as health officials assured the public the situation was under control. Fifty-three crew members and 43 passengers suffered respiratory infections similar to influenza A, ship’s doctor Gary Howerton said. There were 1,400 passengers and 600 crew members aboard. Health officials in New York said the situation was under control but advised those with weakened immune systems and the elderly in the city to get their flu shots early.
