UUNet, the Internet service provider owned by WorldCom Inc., is expected today to unveil an Internet-based service that lets one sender transmit large amounts of data to many users at once. The multicasting service, which lets users send hefty data files such as video, will be aimed at corporate users, analysts said. A spokeswoman for Fairfax, Va.-based UUNet would only say that the company is making a “major” announcement today in San Francisco. “The sender doesn’t send a copy to 1,000 places; he sends it once and the network takes care of delivering it to those 1,000 places,” said Frank Dzubeck, president of Communications Network Architects.
