Storm Channels
The storm channels, which were created to handle runoff from heavy rains, thereby protecting countless lives, have been allowed to have weeds, bushes and small trees growing in them (Sept. 17). Now that we want to clean them out, the hand-wringers are claiming that the mice and other small beasties won’t have a place to live.
What I am reading, then, is that in case of a storm and the resultant waters that could rush down the channels, not only can we drown the rats and lizards, but the people that the channels were designed to protect. That really makes sense!
