Brandis Braverman of Newport Beach upset Melissa Beadman of Australia in the qualifying round of the USTA Women’s Challenger of Newport Beach. Beadman, seeded second in the qualifying round, lost, 6-1, 6-2. Braverman will face Spain’s Paula Hermida today.
The sixth and final stop of the Clarion Surf Tour begins today with the Body Glove Surf Bout X at Lower Trestles in San Clemente. The six-day contest concludes Saturday.
