Economic Issues Focus of Hermandad Council
- Share via
Hermandad Mexicana Nacional, the Latino rights organization under investigation for alleged voter fraud, has announced the creation of an economic development council.
The council, which will provide local residents with information and business funding, was formed in response to welfare reform initiatives that call for people to hold jobs or lose benefits.
Raul Elias, a researcher with Hermandad, said a small percentage of the 100,000 adults and children in Orange County who will be affected by welfare reform are Latino.
But Elias said the economic development council is needed to better inform Latinos about their finances and provide start-up funds for businesses.
