Communists Cite Corruption Purge

China’s ruling Communist Party expelled 121,500 members for corruption and punished 37,492 members for criminal acts between October 1992 and June 1997, the New China News Agency said. The Central Commission for Discipline and Inspection released the figures in a report to the party’s 15th congress, trumpeting the success of its battle against corruption.
