People with anxiety disorders often find it difficult to reach out for help. Some people become so overwhelmed by feelings of fear and anxiety that they become housebound. That’s why this new Web site is an important addition to the National Institute of Mental Health’s arsenal of tools to help people with anxiety disorders. The site enables people to locate the latest information on the disorders--which include panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, phobias, post-traumatic stress disorder and generalized anxiety disorder. Options for treatment are described as well as resources for patients and their families. Visitors to the site can even view video clips featuring personal accounts from people who have an anxiety disorder.
