Officials Plan Second Food Drive to Aid Poor Families

Share

Encouraged by the success of a food-for-work distribution program for needy people, officials announced Tuesday plans for another food drive to benefit impoverished families.

“This program is important to our clients and the community because it helps reduce the decision for many people whether to pay rent or purchase food,” said Jeff Farber of the L.A. Family Housing Corp. “All people deserve access to quality, affordable food.”

On Saturday, residents of an emergency family shelter were able to buy food packages valued at up to $35 for two hours of neighborhood service and $15 in cash or food stamps. Orders are being taken for the next distribution April 25.
