Killer of 5 Executed for 3-State Rampage

A man who killed five people in a three-state crime rampage went to his death in the electric chair in Starke, saying in a statement he “would give a thousand lifetimes to undo past deeds.” The execution of Daniel Remeta was Florida’s fourth in nine days. Remeta, 40, was executed for shooting to death 60-year-old convenience store clerk Mehrle Reeder in 1995. Within six days, he had gunned down another woman in Arkansas and three men in Kansas.
