CKE Restaurant Acquisition Complete

Carl’s Jr. hamburger chain operator CKE Restaurants Inc. said Wednesday it has completed its acquisition of 557 formerly franchised Hardee’s restaurants from Advantica Restaurant Group Inc.

Anaheim-based CKE paid $380.8 million and assumed $45.6 million in debt. CKE owns the North Carolina-based Hardee’s chain, but individual franchisees own 53% of the chain’s 3,039 restaurants.

The purchase of the Advantica restaurants gave CKE direct ownership of 1,420 Hardee’s facilities, or 47% of the total.
