Fullerton Parents Organize Group to Support Public School Programs

A group of community members--mostly parents whose children attend Fullerton elementary and junior high schools--launched an organization this week to promote the city’s public education programs.

Organizers said Community Advocates for Public Education also will fight efforts to ban services in local schools, including psychological counseling, bilingual education and health clinics for needy students. Some residents have criticized the district for such programs.

The group’s leaders say they plan to educate the public about the issues affecting the Fullerton School District, endorse candidates in the upcoming school board election, promote successful programs and push for equal education for all students.

Veronica Bullard, one of the organization’s founders, said it will provide “positive leadership and constructive activism to ensure a quality education and equal opportunities for all of Fullerton’s children.”
