280 Reported Missing After Boat Capsizes

Army divers scoured the nation’s southeastern coastline, searching for 280 people missing from a passenger boat that capsized in rough waters. Only 20 of the ship’s 300 passengers are known to have survived. The overloaded boat was en route to the West African country of Gabon when it was caught in heavy seas and overturned Wednesday, Assistant Police Supt. Bode Akinbamiloyo said. A government newspaper reported that military speedboats and police cruisers were called in to search for victims.
