Parking Ticket
In the midst of the March 25 deluge I intercepted a parking enforcement officer issuing me a ticket for parking during street cleaning hours. I told the officer I hadn’t moved my car because the sweeper never comes out in heavy rain. The officer said she realized that and had called her supervisor who, nevertheless, instructed that tickets be written.
I received a $40 ticket, rain continued throughout the no parking period and streets were not swept.
Enforcement of the letter of the law in circumstances as above is a gross violation of the spirit of the law, and a use of law not to benefit the citizenry but to enrich entrenched interests; it is a mockery of law and a corruption of public trust.
