Lott Takes the Helm at EMI’s Domestic Unit

Roy Lott, former executive vice president of Arista Records, took over Monday as deputy president of EMI Recorded Music North America, the domestic arm of EMI Group, home to such pop stars as the Spice Girls and Garth Brooks.

Lott, who worked at Arista for 19 years, now oversees EMI’s operations in the U.S. and Canada and reports to Ken Berry, president of EMI Recorded Music, the British conglomerate that owns such record labels as Virgin and Capitol Records. Lott is credited with helping Arista founder Clive Davis turn the New York-based label, home to such stars as Aretha Franklin and Whitney Houston, into one of the world’s most successful record companies.
