Kimbrough Knocks in 7 for Royal

Tyrone Kimbrough of Royal High was four for four, drove in seven runs and scored twice to lead the Highlanders to a 20-7 victory over host Channel Islands in a Marmonte League baseball game on Monday called after six innings because of the 10-run rule.

Kimbrough’s grand slam in the third gave the Highlanders (7-4, 3-1 in league play) an 8-1 lead.

Tony Ortega had three hits and three runs batted for the Highlanders, who had a season-high 19 hits.

Jared Krehbiel had two hits and one RBI for Channel Islands (3-6-1, 0-5).

Chatsworth 14, University 4--Bryan Gant had a double, a triple and five RBIs in a Kennedy tournament game victory at Loyola Marymount called after five innings because of the 10-run rule.

Mike Kunes doubled twice and singled for the Chancellors (12-1), ranked No. 2 in The Times’ regional poll. Tom Morefield (1-0) pitched a four-hitter, striking out seven.

Franklin 5, San Fernando 3--Gilbert Hernandez (5-0) scattered seven hits, struck out five and walked one for host Franklin (10-2) in a Kennedy tournament game.

Efrain Camargo had three hits for San Fernando (4-7).

Kennedy 9, Simi Valley 6--Wes Crown had three hits for Kennedy (10-3) in a Kennedy tournament game at Simi Valley (6-3).

David Land slugged two solo home runs for Simi Valley.

Marcus Alvarado, Tim Arroyo and Jack Cassel each had two hits for Kennedy.

Grant 3, Granada Hills 1--Mike Marble gave up six hits and two walks in the complete game victory in a Kennedy tournament game at Grant (3-10).

Dennis Moran drove in a run for Grant with a double in the the fourth.

Jon Bringuier had two doubles for Granada Hills (5-10).

Monroe 4, Culver City 2--John Ennis had three hits and drove in three runs for Monroe in a Kennedy tournament game at Culver City.

Ennis (3-2) pitched his fourth complete game, striking out eight and walking two.

Van Nuys 5, South Gate 4--Shane Mochizuki’s two-run single capped a four-run rally for Van Nuys (5-7-1) in the bottom of the seventh inning in an RBI tournament opener. Angel Barajas had three RBIs, including a two-run double in the seventh.

Palmdale 10, Ramona 2--Reliever Mark Hendricks (3-1) struck out six in five shutout innings for the Falcons (10-2) in the opening round of the Pomona tournament. Teammate J.J. Rosati had three hits and Wes Johnson had a two-run single.

Arcadia 1, Quartz Hill 0--Brady Robbins pitched a four-hitter and struck out eight, but the Rebels supported him with only two hits in a first-round game of the Pomona tournament.

Quartz Hill’s Ryan West was hitless, ending his home run streak at six consecutive games.

Glendora 11, Calabasas 1--Mike Kugler doubled in Tom Lookabill for the Coyotes’ only run in a Pomona tournament game stopped after five innings because of the 10-run rule.

Harvard-Westlake 6, Village Christian 0--Junior Chris Santos (2-2) allowed one hit and struck out six in a Babe Herman tournament game victory at Glendale High.

Adam Siegel had a two-run single and Matt Berkson had a run-scoring double during a four-run second inning.

Valencia 12, Glendale 2--Sean Silveri drove in two runs with two hits and stole three bases for Valencia (11-3) in a Babe Herman tournament game at Stengel Field called after five innings because of the 10-run rule.

Brian Otis had three hits for Valencia and drove in one run.

John Kelley (2-0) pitched a three-hitter, allowing no earned runs and striking out four.

Antelope Valley 2, Crespi 1--Hector Velez (2-2) pitched a five-hitter and struck out seven and teammate Jorge Flores snapped a 1-1 tie with a two-out single in the top of the sixth inning in a nonleague game at Valley College.

Chris Wurster, who had two hits, singled in a run in the fifth to give Antelope Valley (3-6) a 1-0 lead.

Crespi (10-3-1) tied the score in the bottom of the inning on an error.

Santa Clara 10, Villanova Prep 5--Kevin Gormley had two hits, including a three-run triple for host Santa Clara (3-5) in a nonleague game.
