* Microsoft Corp. said it will buy privately held Firefly Network Inc., a developer of privacy technology for the Internet, for undisclosed terms. Microsoft said the acquisition will help it add technology to its software and Web sites that can deliver more personalized features and services.

* Raytheon Co. agreed to pay $2.7 million to settle an accounting dispute with the Defense Department over how to treat the cost of marketing products to foreign countries. Executives of the company were unavailable for comment. A release from the office of U.S. Atty. Donald K. Stern in Boston said, “Raytheon has denied it improperly charged foreign marketing costs to the U.S. government.”

* Remington Arms Co. said its owner hired Goldman, Sachs & Co. as the sporting-goods company considers its strategic options as the guns and ammunition industry continues to consolidate. Madison, N.C.-based Remington, the nation’s oldest gun maker, is owned by investment firm Clayton, Dubilier & Rice Inc.

* QVC Inc. of Philadelphia and Marubeni Corp. of Japan agreed to jointly assume equity investment positions in Mall of TV, an existing electronic retailing venture in Japan.
