Body Identified as Owner of Boat Found Last Week
The body of a man found floating beyond the breakwater near the Port of Long Beach was identified Thursday as the owner of a boat found by Coast Guard officials last week.
The body of Rick Andrews, 27, of Huntington Beach, was found at 5 p.m. Wednesday by a man fishing near Pier F, said Coast Guard Lt. Jeanne Reincke.
A lifeguard rescue boat retrieved the body and took it to a fire station, said Long Beach police spokeswoman Maria Lopez.
Andrews’ small boat was discovered outside the breakwater between Huntington Harbor and Long Beach on April 1. An autopsy was pending Wednesday, but foul play was not suspected, authorities said.
