For the 14th Time, It’s Tree City USA

For its planting and education efforts, Anaheim has been recognized--for the 14th time--as a Tree City USA by the National Arbor Day Foundation.

The city is also the recipient of a Tree City USA Growth Award for its efforts to advance the understanding of the urban forest and improve the environment.

Trees help to increase property values, cool homes, beautify the community, fight pollution, conserve energy and give wildlife shelter, said John Rosenow, National Arbor Day Foundation president.

Among the city’s ongoing activities is Power Plant, planned for April 18 and sponsored by ReLeaf Anaheim and local churches. The neighborhood selected for the planting of 300 trees is bordered by Lincoln Avenue on the north, Ball Road on the south, the Santa Ana River to the east and the Orange Freeway to the west.
