A Guide to the Guides on Nutrition

Share

You might call it food for thought: The American Dietetic Assn. has just released its first “Good Nutrition Reading List” to help guide consumers through the maze of books and newsletters offering health advice.

“We know people are a bit overwhelmed when they walk into a bookstore looking for a good book about eating well, losing weight, sports nutrition or other needs,” said Polly Fitz, president of the 70,000-member ADA. “This list gives readers a jump-start on which books are worth cracking.”

While not endorsing individual books or newsletters, the pamphlet lists and describes 100 publications that have been reviewed by dietitians on such specific topics as diabetes meal planning, vegetarianism, sports nutrition, children’s nutrition and more.
