From Wire and Staff Reports

The lead singer of the Huntington Beach-based punk band Guttermouth has been charged with committing an indecent act by allegedly exposing himself during a performance in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and encouraging an underage girl to do the same.

Mark Adkins is to appear in court Oct. 21 to face trial for the act, allegedly committed during a performance at the University of Saskatchewan on March 21.

The charges are that Adkins exposed himself to someone under 14 years of age and persuaded an underage girl to expose herself to the audience.

Adkins was arrested the next day, detained overnight and then deported.

The charges prompted the band to cancel the rest of its Canadian tour. Adkins’ lawyer entered an innocent plea in provincial court last week.

Adkins was arrested and jailed briefly in 1995 on suspicion of inciting a riot during a show at Glen Helen Blockbuster Pavilion in Devore. But the San Bernardino County district attorney’s office did not file charges, saying there was insufficient evidence.

Formed in 1989, Guttermouth has toured the United States and Europe. The Nitro Records artists were in Canada to promote their latest release, Musical Monkey.
