18-Year-Old Arrested After Knife Incident
An Oxnard man was arrested early Friday after allegedly brandishing a knife at police officers.
Miguel Angel Orozco, 18, was approached by Oxnard police officers after they saw him walking in the center median of Saviers Road and crossing the street repeatedly at about 3 a.m. His hands were placed in his clothing as if he were concealing a weapon, Officer Eric Sonstegard said.
As Sonstegard and Officer Erik Mora approached him, he pulled out a kitchen knife with a 5-inch blade and threatened them, according to police.
When Orozco ignored commands to drop the knife, Officer Mike Robison instructed his police dog to attack, police said.
Orozco was treated for puncture wounds to his arm at Ventura County Medical Center and placed under arrest on suspicion of brandishing a knife at a police officer and attempted assault on a police dog.
One officer received a small laceration and was treated at St. John’s Regional Medical Center.
