Day Runner Inc.: The Irvine maker of organizers and planners posted net income of $1.1 million, or 9 cents a share, for the third fiscal quarter, compared with net income of $58,000 for the year-earlier period. Sales for the quarter ended March 31 rose 40% to $29.4 million from $21 million. Nine-month net income grew 31% to $11 million, or 88 cents a share, from $8.4 million, or 63 cents a share, for the corresponding period a year ago. Sales were up 30% to $116.9 million from $89.6 million.
