Soroptimists Honor Three Good Citizens

Evelyn Huang of Marina High School won first place in the annual Youth Citizenship Awards competition sponsored by Soroptimist International of Westminster. She completed more than 600 hours of volunteer work, including tutoring children, doing errands for the elderly and participating in American Red Cross blood drives. Huang was awarded $500 to use toward her college education.

Eric Mason of La Quinta High School won second place in the contest. The third-place winner was Sarina Kuriel of Marina High School.
