ORANGE COUNTY EARNINGS

Sync Research Inc.: The Irvine maker of software and hardware products lost $3.2 million, or 19 cents a share, for the first quarter, compared with a net loss of $6.2 million, or 36 cents a share, for the 1997 first quarter. Revenue rose 10%, to $5.6 million from $5.1 million. The company said results were affected by delays of two large projects.
