Shelia Henness Appointed as School District Trustee
Shelia Henness, a veteran parent volunteer, has been appointed to the board of the Capistrano Unified School District, replacing longtime Trustee Paul B. Haseman.
Henness, of Laguna Niguel, who will take the dais June 22, has held many posts in the community, including the past two terms as president of the Capistrano Unified Council of Parent Teacher Schools Assns. She also has served on district committees and is always present at school board meetings.
She told board members Monday that her husband, Bruce, and her children, Katie, 15, and Michael, 12, support her new position. “The opportunity to serve as a trustee would be nothing short of a dream come true,” Henness said.
Haseman, an international attorney who was elected to the board in 1981, is transferring to Washington, D.C., in June for his job. Henness will serve until Haseman’s four-year term ends in November, at which time she is expected to run for election.
