CELEBRATION: Seventy-five years of service by the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate to St. Ferdinand Catholic Church of San Fernando will be celebrated Sunday at 7:30, 9, 10:30 a.m. and noon Masses. A reception in the church hall will follow all the services at 1109 Coronel St., San Fernando. The religious order has served the northeast Valley English- and Spanish-speaking congregation since 1922. The parish has since grown from a small wooden church to include an elementary school. POTLUCK DINNER: A meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday to plan a single parent Shabbat potluck dinner at 7 p.m. Aug. 14 at Valley Cities Community Center, 13164 Burbank Blvd., Sherman Oaks. TEMPLE BEAUTIFICATION: The Burbank Temple Emanu El will host Temple Beautification Day to paint the exterior of the social hall in preparation for the High Holidays and Jewish New Year. MYTHOLOGY LECTURE: Psychologist Jonathan Young will present “The Magic of Mythic Stories,” a lecture on fairy tales and insights into personal stories, from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Aug. 9 at the Emerson Unitarian Church, 7304 Jordan Ave., Canoga Park.
