Education at Issue
* When it was proven the Capistrano Unified School District failed to provide an appropriate education to a deaf student, failed to meet her audiological needs, failed to provide peers, failed her in every way--the district rejoiced. (“State Officials Say District Failed to Meet the Needs of Deaf Student,” July 17.)
According to Doreen Lohnes, assistant superintendent of student services, “the district won the central issue. We don’t have to fund Rancho Viejo.” At the Rancho Viejo School, we put the best interest of our students first. Capistrano has again missed the point.
