Alleged Polygamist Charged With Incest
An alleged polygamist who deputies say married his brother’s 16-year-old daughter was charged in Salt Lake City with incest and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor. The girl, now 17, is believed by authorities to have been secretly married in October to her uncle, David O. Kingston, 32, in an arrangement made by her father. Under Utah law, sexual relations with a niece or nephew is considered incest. The girl, who went to police after an alleged beating by her father in May, told authorities she was Kingston’s 15th wife, triggering a widespread public debate about the practice of plural marriage.
