BARBECUE: Sabbath services will be held on the patio at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Beth Knesset Bamidbar, 1611 E. Avenue J, Lancaster, with the BKB Brotherhood conducting services. CELEBRATIONS: The Valley Hindu Temple will celebrate the birth of Lord Shri Krishna and India’s Independence Day with a cultural program open to everyone. Actors will represent Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Bapu Mohandas Gandhi from 7 p.m. to midnight Aug. 15. Continuing the celebration, a children’s program will be presented from 6 to 9 p.m. Aug. 16. TEEN TALK LINE: The Lancaster United Methodist Church offers a free “Teen Talk Line” from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday until fall. All calls are welcome, whether teens need help with life’s challenges or just want to chat. Call (805) 949-8662. Volunteers are also needed to help with the phone lines.
