Computer-networking king Cisco Systems Inc. countersued Lucent Technologies Inc., denying that it violated Lucent patents and charging the giant maker of phone equipment with infringing on Cisco’s technology. Lucent sued Cisco in June, claiming that it illegally used patented Lucent technology in its products. Cisco denied violating any of the six patents named in the suit. Its countersuit charges Lucent with violating five Cisco patents.
