The Pasadena Education Foundation, the charitable arm of the local public school system, has received a grant of $245,000, bringing the total amount raised this year to more than $2.5 million, officials said.

The grant from the Woodland Hills-based California Endowment will be used at the school district’s model Family Centers, at Madison and Cleveland elementary schools.

For the past five years, the centers have provided on-site services such as counseling, physical health examinations, immunizations and crisis intervention to 1,000 students and their families.

“Thanks to the California Endowment, we will be able to expand our service to children and their families in the coming year,” Superintendent Vera Vignes said.

At Madison Elementary, a nurse, a social worker and case managers will provide health services, while at Cleveland, a new home-visit program called Family to Family will be introduced, school officials said.

The California Endowment is a foundation that seeks to expand affordable health care to underserved individuals and communities.
