Moran Begins His Postmaster Duties

Terry Moran, who began his career 20 years ago as a letter carrier in the San Fernando Post Office, was sworn in Thursday as postmaster of Canoga Park.

Moran will be responsible for the sorting and delivery of an estimated 140 million pieces of mail annually. He oversees 245 employees at four different stations: the main Canoga Park Post Office on Canoga Avenue, the Challenger Station and the West Hills Station on Sherman Way, and the Winnetka Station on Winnetka Avenue.

The area encompasses 98 mail routes that serve 50,000 business and residential addresses.

In short, if your ZIP code is 91303 through 91307, Moran’s your man.

“It’s a lot of responsibility,” said Postal Service spokeswoman Terri Bouffiou. “Their revenue in Canoga Park is about $15 million. In the private sector, this would be a medium-sized business.”

Moran was promoted to supervisor of delivery and collection at the San Fernando Post Office in 1986. He has worked in management jobs in Canoga Park, Santa Clarita, Reseda and other post offices.

In 1994, he earned a Manager of the Year Award in his district, and this year he won a statewide Postal Service award, Bouffiou said.
