Oxnard School Board Hearing
At my state professional competency hearing, the Oxnard School Board focused its attention on why the school district does not want me to return to work [after being convicted of secretly tape-recording the telephone calls of a school trustee]. It is important to note that my competency and the misdemeanor were not the issues.
The two issues presented by school board members were my inability to serve as a role model and their inability to function as a five-member board.
With regard to my position as a role model, I called attention to the contents of my personnel file, which includes 25 years of positive job performance evaluations, letters of commendation and recognition for community service. I was limited to 18 witnesses who came forward on my behalf. Both the documents and the testimonies attest to my character as a role model.
Because of that support, I intend to file an appeal. I ask all of my friends to continue providing their help as I try to prove myself worthy of their friendship.
