Mitchell Drives in 3 Runs as Vigilantes Finish Sweep

The Vigilantes completed a three-game sweep of Bend by beating the Bandits, 9-6, in a Western League game in front of an announced crowd of 1,687 Sunday at Saddleback College.

Kevin Tahan had three hits and drove in two runs and Aaron Mitchell had two hits, including a double, and drove in three for Mission Viejo (14-15).

The Vigilantes scored twice in the second inning to take a 2-1 lead but Bend (11-18) got two runs in the third to move in front, 3-2.

But Mission Viejo took the lead for good with five runs in the third.

Phil Kernan and Alan Burke--the first two batters in the inning--reached on errors. Tahan and Kendrick Davis followed with RBI singles and Mitchell drove in two runs with a single as well. Tracy Edmondson capped the inning with an RBI triple.

Bend got single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth but the Vigilantes rallied for two runs in the eighth when Robert Muro doubled in one and Phil Kernan singled in another.

Josh Belovsky struck out two in the ninth as he got his eighth save.
