Enforcing Child Support

Share

Re “Children Have a Right to Support,” Ventura County Perspective, Aug. 16.

I am a working single mother of three who struggles daily to make ends meet. I have a court order but enforcement is another issue.

Children don’t have a vote, but the elected district attorneys of California have an obligation to hold the best interest of these children paramount in their daily actions.

Stricter enforcement and full use of the current laws for the benefit of all children should be a priority. Go that extra step for a child entitled to receive child support; you’ll be giving a future leader a supportive start.

So, elected D.A.s, you still have a long way to go in getting the support currently owed to all the children of California. That will require you to try some new efforts: Send some irresponsible parents to jail, revoke licenses, intercept tax returns and request IRS full collection efforts.

Our children are worth stricter enforcement efforts.
